People managers’ guide to mental health at work
CIPD in collaboration with Mind, the mental health charity, have developed a guide to help managers facilitate conversations about stress and mental health problems with employees.
CIPD found that poor mental health was the most common cause of long-term sickness absence in UK workplaces and that stress-related absence had increased by nearly two-fifths.
Many employees are reluctant to speak up about their mental health because it could harm their promotion and career opportunities.
The guide ‘People managers’ guide to mental health at work‘ sets out the practical steps that employers can take to create a mentally healthy workplace.
