Employment Law in Action's Founders and Directors are Julia Carter and Ros Hammond:

Julia Carter

Julia has over 20 years experience advising across a wide range of employment law matters, from recruitment through to termination of employment. Julia gained her B.S.c. in Psychology in 1985 and qualified as a Barrister in 1991. In 1996 Julia requalified to become a Solicitor. As a Director of Employment Law in Action, she no longer practices as either a Solicitor or a Barrister.

However, Julia uses her legal training to advise and support clients on a range of day-to-day employment issues, to represent clients at tribunals, and to run various training courses and public seminars.

Ros Hammond

After graduating in Business and Finance, Ros began her career in the retail industry working for Whitbread and then Safeway Plc.

In 1996 Ros was offered the opportunity to join Chartwells, part of the Compass Group. During her time with Compass, Ros championed the Company through the Investors in People Award, dealt extensively with TUPE and played a key change role when the Company merged with Granada.

In 2001 Ros moved to SDRC, a Manufacturing Software company, as the UK Human Resources Director. During her time with SDRC, Ros introduced key HR practices and systems whilst working closely with her European colleagues to ensure a consistent strategy. At this time Ros also completed her Masters in Employment Law. In 2002 Ros became an HR Consultant and since then has provided support and advice to clients on numerous employment issues. In addition Ros develops and runs training courses and provides consultancy support to clients. Ros is also an accredited Mediator.
